Short
Term Accommodations Survey Results Presented
Findings of a recent online survey about Short Term
Accommodations were presented at open houses in Wellington and
Picton. Plans for developing a made-in-The County approach to
addressing opportunities and challenges associated with this growing
sector were also presented.
The public is invited to send comments in writing by August
3, 2018 to Paul Walsh, Manager of Planning, at 332 Picton Main
Street, Picton, ON K0K 2T0 or via pwalsh@pecounty.on.ca.

Picton Town Hall
The County of Prince Edward’s Community Development
Department is inviting proposals for the ongoing use and operation of
the current Picton Town Hall and former Picton Fire Hall. The
deadline to submit expressions of interest is
2pm on Nov.
26, 2018.

Media Visit The County
In July, The County was visited by a National Geographic
(Japan) photographer, who took landscape images of farming, beaches
and wine.
The regional tourism authority organized
a video featuring the food, wine, cycling, art &
heritage of Prince Edward County. Take a look and see how many places you've
visited.

Comedy
Country has been having a killer season - and next up are The
Bloody Marys, appearing August 18 at the Athol Rec Centre. A hit
improv and sketch comedy duo known for their fast paced, dramatic
and often gory style, The Blood Marys consist of Second City Alumni
Kirsten Rasmussen and Leigh Cameron. More information here.

Tourism Ambassador Training
Now Available
Could your front-line staff benefit from Tourism Ambassador
Training this summer? This unique training was developed
between Loyalist College, The Prince Edward Learning Centre,
and the Community Development Department to address the specific
needs of County employees.
This 3hr training covers all visitor information
tools and resources, standard facts about Prince Edward County and
our tourism sector, and what customer service looks like in The
County.

Go with your
gut!
On Saturday
August 4th, visit the historic Crystal Palace in Picton for a full
day of demonstrations and workshops focusing on seven ways to
ferment, soy and non-soy miso making, ways to promote better gut
health and how to move fermented products from side dishes to
entrees. There will be a craft beer garden and food trucks on
site, plus a wide variety of vendors selling Kombucha,
Kefir, Jun, Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Pickles, Sourdough, Chocolate, Dairy
and Plant Based Cheese, Tempeh, Tea and Coffee. Admission
is $10 at the gate, kids under 12 free! No pets allowed, please. More

Picton for the development of commercial units for businesses. The
CDD recognizes the need for commercial lease space that provides

From Lake
Couchiching to Lake Ontario
Megan Lumgair
and Chris Thompson took the plunge, moving to Prince Edward County
without jobs in hopes of building a new life that would include more
green space and outdoor time. They knew the real challenge would be
finding a place to live - and they lucked out, finding a rental home
two minutes from the beach! It seems dreams really can come true -
with the help of a good friend (and Kijiji).

Fundays at Macaulay Heritage Park every second Sunday
North Marysburgh Town Hall
Cost: $16 for adults, $10 for kids under 12
Delicious food
and a toe-tapping good time! Jamie Pounder will provide the musical
talent, and there will be a silent auction as well. All proceeds to
Rose House Museum. Call 613-476-5439 for information.
Cost: Self-guided tours are free, and everything else is
included in regular $5 museum admission for adults, $4 for seniors and
$3 for children under 12. Kids under 5 are free.
Celebrate the
neighbourhood surrounding Macaulay Heritage Park, still known as Delhi
by many of its residents. There will be self-guided walking tours of
the neighbourhood, guided tours of the cemetery at the former St. Mary
Magdalene's church, stations featuring historic crafts and
demonstrations - and best of all, a bite of birthday cake to honour our
museum's namesake, William Macaulay!

Celebrate
the Museum's 50th Anniversary with seasonal delights on the
