Renewed Partnership with Creative Rural Minds

Supporting Resident & Investment Attraction in The County

Creative Rural Minds

The County’s Community Development Department(CDD) is excited to announce its support of Creative Rural Minds, a series of networking events that brings together creative thinkers and community builders to stimulate conversation and collaboration in Prince Edward County. The partnership will support The County’s Build a New Life campaign by serving as a “welcome” for prospective residents and businesses, giving them the opportunity to network and connect with the community. The Build a New Life campaign is a major component of The County’s resident & investment attraction efforts.

Originating in 2009, the idea for Creative Rural Minds was developed by the municipality’s former Economic Development Office. In recent years, the event series was reinvigorated by County locals Krista Dalby and Lenny Epstein. “We really wanted to recreate these vital opportunities to gather and exchange ideas,” said Epstein. “Prince Edward County attracts so many interesting creative people,” noted Dalby, who is the co owner of Small Pond Arts, adding that “something really special happens when you throw a hundred of these creatives in the same room. There’s a sense that we’re all in this together, and in an incredible time to be living here.”
Neil Carbone, Director of The County’s Community Development Department noted that “Creative Rural Minds is an amazing resource for The County’s small business owners, artists and entrepreneurs. We need to be showcasing this resource—and others like it—to prospective residents and businesses.” Recent events have been very well received in the community, regularly attracting upwards of 100 participants.
The Prince Edward County Arts Council (PECAC) will also be a partner in the development of these future events. “The Arts Council is very excited about this new partnership and is looking for opportunities to support all those ‘creative minds’ that have come to The County,” said Susanne Barclay, artist and chair of the PEC Arts Council.
Building on past momentum, Creative Rural Minds, alongside its new partners, has planned quarterly networking events for the year to come. The first such event will be the Stage & Sail Edition and will be held on Saturday, September 24th. Details of the event can be found attached.
