Flashback February

Feb 16-23, 2019

Flashback February is a week-long celebration of heritage in Prince Edward County, featuring workshops, film screenings, plays, talks and more.

This year, the theme is "Spirits of Our Past" and the week will kick off with a Victorian seance at The Regent Theatre, inspired by the Fox Sisters of Consecon, who started the spiritualism movement of speaking with the dead.

There will also be a new Escape Room experience opening at Macaulay House, a talk on the Avro Arrow, the Franklin Expedition, a maritime film festival, County trivia, high tea at the Black River B&B, heritage wine & spirit tours, an "antiques roadshow" for heritage cookbooks, a Victorian puddings culinary workshop, an Indigenous musical revue, a "spirits + spirits" night with a seance expert and Kinsip distillery - and so much more!

North Docks - Paul Dubeau (and Zach Deodato)

"I want to keep my prices attractive and I also want to offer a living wage to my staff. It's a balancing act. For winter, I'm offering really good value, warming food. We aim to take care of the locals who want to hunker down and stay put. It's cold, we're so close, they can come and relax with a soup and sandwich. No big deal. I want to be a little escape that won't break the bank."

Butter Dream Cakes - Meganne Belisle

"I make everything from scratch. And I love the design part. I put a lot of time into decorating and designing. It's like edible art. Yes, like Grandma made, but with a whole lot more because I like to make my stuff look fantastic. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and if that takes until 2 a.m., well, so be it! I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing people's reactions, I love pleasing them and I love surprising them."
